About This Is Now

Long before social media was invented, television broadcasting was a way of airing people’s favorite shows and news during certain times of the day. Today, social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have expanded and given the ability to access information on every mobile device.

Since these services have made it easier for consumers to obtain relevant news at any time of the day, there has been a decline of views on broadcast television. But how will the news broadcasters adjust to inform everyone if not everyone today subscribes to television cable?

This podcast will document moments interning at a big broadcasting station. Creating this project will also teach other students and have a better understanding of the importance of working at a local news broadcasting department.

Aloha! My name is Makayla and I am a Multi-Media Arts student pursuing a Creative Media Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Hawaii West Oahu, with a concentration of post-production and editorial writing and designing.

As part of my student career, I had the opportunity to step doors at my very own local TV broadcasting station called, Hawaii News Now.

I hope that sharing my personal experiences through this platform will help inspire other media art students to have a better understanding to what it is like working in the market.
